    International Students Benefit from New Immigration Levels

    The Canadian Experience Class (CEC) will play a prominent role in shaping immigration for 2013. The program, which was created to streamline Permanent Residency applications for workers and students already in Canada, is expected to issue 10,000 visas next year. This is an increase of 3,000-4,000 from last year’s immigration targets. International students who have completed studies in Canada are well-placed to make an easy transition into the Canadian workforce. They have already assimilated into Canadian culture, speak French and/or English, and will possess educational credentials that will be recognized by Canadian employers.     Change in Federal skilled program & Canadian experience class

    Immigration Canada has proposed new program effective from January 01, 2013 for skilled workers. Important changes are: increase in Language Proficiency level, limiting maximum points till age of 35, including language proficiency of spouse, replacement of AEO with LMO, credential evaluations etc. More details will be posted once Immigration department make final announcement. Canadian Experience class is also going to change. The current requirement for foreign skilled workers to work at least 2 years in Canada before they can submit CEC application is going to be replaced by requirement of only 1 year of work experience in Canada.

    Parental or Grandparental Super visa

    Effective December 01, 2011, new class of visitor visa, called Super Visa, is introduced. Parents or grandparents can get up to maximum of 10 years. Parents/grandparents can enter and live in Canada up to 2 years and then have to leave Canada but can re-enter again. Parents/Grandparents are required to get medical insurance to become eligible for this status.
